Matariki 2024

24 June - 31 July 2024

Mānawatia a Matariki | Acknowledging Matariki

In Pipiri (June) and Hōnongoi (July), our campus communities will be celebrating Matariki.

Matariki is a time where people, whānau, and communities gather together to remember the year that has passed, to celebrate the present, and to plan for the next year. It is a time to remember our loved ones who are no longer with us, to feast and celebrate and to look towards the future, opportunities and the hope of a season full of abundance.

This year, the theme for Matariki is 'Matariki heri kai', which comes from the Māori proverb ‘Matariki whetū heri kai’ meaning ‘Matariki, the bringer of food’. We are excited to be sharing kai at our Petone campus in line with this theme.
