New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) Carpentry

Study the certificate in construction and get skills that are in high demand. This introductory programme allows students to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to gain an apprenticeship. From learning the basics like hand tools, trads calcs, framing and roofing to completing projects, you will be equipped with all the core skills required in today's industry. Students work on real life projects, creating a house which will become a family home, while being supervised by expert tutors in a safe workspace.

What you will learn

Learn in the workshop and on the building site where you’ll construct a house that will become a family’s home. Learn to apply safe work practices and build a solid CV for entering an industry apprenticeship.

  • Receive on-site work experience in timber-framed construction

Entry requirements

Under 20 years

  • 10 credits at level 1 in each of numeracy and literacy, or equivalent study/work experience. 
  • Physical capability to complete the programme.

Over 20 years

If you’re 20 years or over, you may qualify for special admission on this programme. Contact us if you don’t meet the Under 20 entry criteria

Funding your study

Government's Targeted Training and Apprenticeship Fund (TTAF)

*This programme is FREE under TTAF, covering; compulsory tuition fees, compulsory course costs and compulsory student services fees. Visit tec.govt.nz for more information about TTAF.
