Whitireia & WelTec’s Whakakitenga (vision) is:
Learning together. Transforming lives. Te ako ngātahi. Te whakaahua kētanga o te tangata.
We are known for our distinctiveness (Ahureitanga) and we have special relationships with local Iwi: WelTec with Te Āti Awa and Whitireia with Ngāti Toa. Together, we are more than the sum of our parts.
Mā tātou, mō tātou Ko WelTec ki Te Āti Awa, ko Whitireia ki Ngāti Toa. E haere kōtui nei me kura-takahi-puni tātou.
Together, we will lead and illuminate our communities through tertiary education.
Whitireia and WelTec are a business division of Te Pūkenga, the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, and we share Te Pūkenga vision and values. Read about them here.
Our values are what define us as one of New Zealand’s most honoured tertiary institutions. Our faculty, staff, and students follow and live by our values.
Our goals form the foundation that guides our outcomes and priorities.
The concepts of Kotahitanga (togetherness, unity and collective action lifting each other up, identifying as one) and Poutama (the pursuit of knowledge) guided the design of the two tohu - Ākonga (left) and Kaitiakatanga (right) - crafted by Manukorihi Winiata (Ngāti Raukawa, Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) for Whitireia and WelTec.Learn more about our tohu
