Whitireia and WelTec | Te Pūkenga are committed to supporting pacific ākonga and their academic success. Pacific ākonga are a vital part of community life at Whitireia and WelTec | Te Pūkenga. We have programmes, networks and a strong pacific team who work across our Porirua, Petone and Wellington campuses to help you succeed.
Our dedicated Pacific team are here to support and help you throughout your learning journey. We host cultural and hauora activities with a mix of ‘in person’ and ‘online’ events to connect ākonga (students) and kaimahi (staff).
Our Pacific engagement advisors sit within the Pacific Team. Our Pacific engagement advisors are here to increase Pacific success through strengthening academic delivery, stakeholder relationships, building staff capacity and eliminating structural barriers.
Our dedicated engagement advisors Windy Sione, Tuga Mativa and Leisha Williams promote Pacific success by providing Pacific ākonga across our three campus’ with study support, advocacy, pastoral and cultural support throughout their learning journey. They also support tutors with their engagement of pacific ākonga.
We have dedicated spaces for Pacific ākonga in Petone and Porirua. You will find a friendly and welcoming place to study, socialise or get advice and support. Come visit us.
