Industry connections

We strive to create work-ready graduates with the skills and experiences our businesses and industry-partners need.

Our ākonga (students) enjoy practical learning throughout their journey with us, through industry-informed programme content, industry presenters, capstone projects and workplace experiences.

Industry informed programmes

To create the most relevant programmes for our ākonga, we actively work alongside industry. Understanding what skills and learning are required by industry, means that, on graduation, our ākonga are ready to enter the workforce.

Practical experiences

The goal of vocational education is to learn real-life and work skills in a practical and applied work context. It's important to us that ākonga have the opportunity to observe, get and apply these experiences with trusted businesses, NGOs and government organisations. Not only does it help ākonga practice their skills, but it's an opportunity for organisations to give back to the community.

We're here for industry

Not only do we offer programmes that are informed by industry and provide opportunities for experience in real world contexts, we provide industry with learning through workshops and professional development. Check out our opportunities for professional development. This means that you can upskill, refresh and retrain at any time in whatever way suits you best.

Tamaiti Whāngai

Our Tamaiti Whāngai team actively work in key industries to create pathways for our Māori and Pacific Trades Training (MPTT) ākonga. Not only do they support learners find work placements, they also provide mentoring, goal setting, and pastoral and cultural support.

Capstone Projects

Business and IT ākonga enrolled in certain programmes are given the opportunity to get real work experience with our capstone projects. The project experience provides industry, non-profit organisations and businesses the opportunity to support the development of tertiary ākonga by utilising skills the ākonga gained during their study, in a project to meet their own needs. This is also a great opportunity to develop valuable networks and future opportunities for final-year Business and IT ākonga.
