What you will learn
The delivery of this programme focuses on helping students to communicate independently and confidently in a variety of situations and contexts. Students build on their intermediate level te reo in everyday situations and begin to learn more in-depth te reo knowledge. The programme is taught primarily in English and students are taught to understand language structures and features. This programme supports improving adult literacy and numeracy.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 4) will be delivered full time over one semester and consists of four compulsory courses, each worth 15 credits each. All four courses must be passed successfully to complete the programme. The assessments in each course include written, oral, listening and reading assessments.

Courses:
Mana Tangata Whā
This course builds on students’ potential to learn past and present applications of te reo and tikanga.
Mana Whenua Whā
From this course, students will learn about the powhiri process and recognise the importance of tribal affiliation, resources, stories, sayings and dialectal variations.
Mana Reo Whā
This course uses advanced-intermediate grammatical structures to build learner potential and perseverance.
Mana Ao Tūroa Whā
In this course, advanced-intermediate level te reo is used to describe and discuss everyday events.

- Educator/teacher - general and reo Māori; Kaiawhina in Kohanga reo, Kura Kaupapa Māori, primary schools or in the workplace

Entry requirements
New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Rumaki Reo Rua) (Level 3)) or equivalent
Suitable for school leavers. Recommended secondary school subjects: NCEA Level 1-3 reo Māori
